Description

This book is the first and only study of its kind for homosexuality in our country. It draws material from two equally important pools: On the one hand, it is based on the hundreds of personal testimonies of gay men and women, which are a valuable repository of knowledge about how homosexuality is experienced in Greece, and which the author gleaned through his work as a psychotherapist and relationship counselor since 2006. These include the author’s own experiences as a gay man, offering an additional experiential aspect.

In addition, it relies on a wealth of scientific research and study that has accumulated since the 1970s that has disproved many unscientific theories, myths, and non-existent beliefs about homosexuality.

The topics he addresses, always in a language accessible to any reader, are, among other things, homophobia, whether we are born or become gay, whether our sexual orientation, cumming out, femininity and masculinity change, Gay sex and the relationships of Greek gays with their parents, aspiring to be a tool of inspiration for both gay men and women who treat the traumas caused by society, as well as parents who know or suspect that their child is gay and they want to understand what he is facing. It is also aimed at mental health professionals, who need specialized information about their gay clients in order to provide them with more comprehensive support.

The book is available in greek.
